GENERAL LABOURER/LEAD HAND

Position Overview:

The incumbent performs a wide range of duties independently or as part of a work crew for all ADC divisions. Labour activities performed may include, but is not limited to maintenance, heavy lifting and labour-intensive activities, operation of small tools and equipment, construction, and cleaning.




Duties:

  • Safely perform labour activities for each assigned project and/or contract.
  • Safely use basic hand and power tools as required.
  • Safely perform heavy lifting as required.
  • Move tools, equipment, and other materials to and from work areas as required.
  • Assist in repairing, maintaining, and installing industrial machinery and equipment.
  1. Operate basic hand tools such as power tools, shovels, rakes, brooms, etc.
  2. Clean and make minor repairs to equipment and tools.

Keep work areas and sites clean and in order.

  1. Dispose of garbage, following procedures.
  2. Securely put away tools, equipment, and trucks.
  3. Dispose of chemicals, following procedures.
  • Clean trucks as scheduled and/or required.

List of Key Responsibilities and General Duties Lead Hand:

Coordinates the activities of work crews in assisting the ADC Team Lead to ensure that the job is done to specifications.

  • As a working lead and as part of the crew remains on site to fulfill related work duties which may include operating equipment, slashing, labor etc.  The job duties will be identified by the ADC Team Lead and determined by the work scope.
  • Is the primary point of contact from the crew to the ADC Team Lead.
  • As designated by the ADC Team Lead, confirms fitness for work, worker attendance and that all workers arrive on time and prepared for the job.  Immediately notify the ADC Team Lead of deficiencies.
  • Monitors work crew fulfillment of the consultant/client work plans and required documentation.  Immediately advise the ADC/AEC Team Lead of deficiencies.
  • Immediately advise the ADC/AEC Supervisor of material or equipment requirements as soon as identified that are lacking at the job site.
  • Ensures all paperwork is submitted to the ADC/AEC Team Lead daily including time sheets, tailgates, safety voice cards, receipts, expense forms, required reports etc.
  • Advise the Consultant/Client to contact the ADC/AEC Team Lead of any proposed work scope changes.

Qualifications:

  1. H2S Alive, Standard First Aid/ CPR, CSTS/PSTS or ability to obtain in 30 days.
  2. Valid driver’s licence with clean abstract preferred.
  3. Some camp and out-of-town work may be required.
  4. Willing to do night shifts as required by Client contracts.

  • Communication and Teamwork: Working and communicating effectively with other members of the workforce. 
  • Training: Participating in training and development to increase skills. 
  • Previous Company performance evaluation(s). 

Experience in supporting oilfield maintenance services will be advantageous.




Work Demands:

This position involves medium work, most of it standing or walking, lifting, pulling, carrying, pushing, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 

The work includes exposure to outside atmospheric conditions. Personal Protective Equipment is required to protect the head, eyes, and feet. Paint, cleaning products and chemicals are to be handled according to the manufacturer’s instructions to prevent injury.
