Aseniwuche Winewak Nation of Canada, A Fellowship of Aboriginal People, or AWN, is a provincially incorporated not-for-profit society based in Grande Cache, Alberta. AWN members share a unique history and ancestry as descendants of a diversity of Indigenous groups of Canada including Cree, Iroquois, Sekani, Dene-saa, Ojibwe, Assiniboine, and Shuswap. The Aseniwuche Winewak Nation are a Cree speaking people whose ancestors thrived in the Rocky Mountains and members continue to live a distinctive cultural way of life.

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Membership Clerk will be primarily responsible for establishing and maintaining the membership records and administration of the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Citizenship Code for Aseniwuche Winewak Nation (AWN).
Duties:
Primary Responsibilities (one to six months):
- Supporting set up of Enrolment Register.
- Maintain and manage membership applications, files and records.
- Review membership applications for completeness and support community members throughout the application process.
- Provide information about the membership application process in person, over the phone, or by directing inquires to the appropriate resources.
- Coordinating and supporting Membership Committee and Enrolment Appeal Board
- Prepare minutes for Membership Committee meetings and Enrolment Appeal Board.
- Notifying affected individuals of decisions of the Membership Committee and Enrolment Appeal Board.
- Prepare and distribute meeting agendas to relevant committees.
- Draft and maintain documents, spreadsheets, and reports as directed.
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director as required.
Secondary Responsibilities (six to twelve months):
- Plan, implement, and execute special project initiatives.
- Serve as the primary contact for all internal and external communications.
- Act as the point of contact for members accessing programs, offering information and connecting them to resources within AWN or partnering organizations. Advocate for members when necessary.
- Provide administrative support for the AWN Board, including preparing meeting packages, recording minutes, arranging travel.
- Continue providing administrative support to the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is preferred; post-secondary education or certification in business administration or a related field is an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced office environment is desirable.
- Proficiency in computer programs and record- keeping/accounting systems, such as Microsoft Office and Sage Accpac, (or similar).
- Flexibility, independence, and strong time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Professional and respectful conduct when dealing with the public and colleagues.
- Knowledge of local culture, including the ability to understand the Cree language is an asset.
- Mandatory Drug and Alcohol testing.
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract.
- RCMP clearance is required prior to commencing employment.

- This position is based in a typical office environment.
- Primarily sedentary work, with occasional lifting of up to ten pounds.
